Bags don’t just have to be for bikepacking, there are plenty of smaller ones that are just as useful on short gravel or mountain bike rides. Contents will usually amass to tools, tube and maybe a jacket or extra layer depending on the size of the bag.

Let me then focus a bit more on Scalable Brake System on Page 10. I had the opportunity to meet our team and be in — on the winter testing, which we did in our which we do in Arjeplog, north of Sweden, during this winter. And we have the new technology, the Fast Acting Brake Valve, on the vehicles for the third winter here on testing. And I had the opportunity to also travel and ride an autonomous-driven truck with our technology, which was a great experience. It’s a strange feeling, for sure, sitting in a truck without touching the steering wheel or the brake valves or [trouble]. But we have the technology for this solution going forward. And this is the concept phase we now are into with one of a leading OEMs in the world.

The robot takes between 15 and 18 minutes to complete the welds; again, these are big parts, some as long as 11 ft. 10 in. long. At this production rate, an operator usually can finish tacking the next job before the robot finishes welding.

Of course, the best laid plans don’t always pan out – but that’s the theory. I suspect we’ll still see some stock shortages in the near-term, but even if that is the case it’s a significant departure from not only how SRAM has handled in the past, but also Shimano – which can see availability backlogs and delays stretching upwards of a year.  An oft-discussed pain point of many in the bike industry.

Lexus offered the first glimpse of this rear-wheel-drive beauty last summer at the 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Monterey, California. The bright-yellow coupe features a carbon-fiber roof and lower grille insert to contrast the bright hue, as well as 21-inch wheels. It is powered by the same 5.0-liter V-8 in the stock version, which makes a healthy 471 horsepower. Stomping the accelerator will scoot the neon sled from zero to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. It’s not a fire-breather, but it’s a smooth fit for the touring coupe and plenty of fun to drive. It’ll set you back $107,235, almost $13,000 more than the stock LC 500. Only 100 of this special edition will be made.

Then we go to the investments in new technology, which I said is the 2 — in the Scalable Brake System, the 2 products we are developing, the electromechanical disc brakes, the full electric disc brake and then the Fast Acting Brake Valve, which is an improvement of the conventional existing brake system based on pneumatic air as of today.

Brian Cutler, Alcon Component’s production engineering manager explains: “Our business is growing and demand for our braking systems is at an all-time high. Whilst this is clearly good news for the company, such an increase in demand was beginning to put pressure on our existing machining methods and manufacturing processes.”

Additional Notes: This heavy saw lagged behind the rest of the full-size saw category as well as several of the more compact models in the test in both general performance and cutting power. The extra height of the 9.0 Ah battery pack keeps the saw from cutting at full depth, limiting cuts to about 2 1/4 inches (–1/8”).
