Coil Cross-Sectional Area

The cross sectional area available for the coil will determine the maximum amount of copper wire which can be fitted in.

The area available should not be more than is needed, consistent with required ampere turns and power dissipation.

Whatever coil space is provided in the design it should always be full with copper wire. If it is not full then it means that the magnet geometry could have been better.
