Would depend on whether you wanted a power meter. But I’d think that if I was planning on getting a power meter in a few months time (or really, anytime soon), I’d just get it over with and start benefiting from the power meter.

The pads performed well in dry weather, although they changed their tune as soon as rain began to fall from the sky in the winter months. Braking power suffered slightly in wet conditions, more so than other all-weather pads that I have used in the past. But after three months of heavy use, and many encounters with mud and rain, the pads have worn only slightly.

Don’t think of the electric brake as the first line of defense. The operator always serves that role. Staying safe on the jobsite starts with your mindset. As with any tool, it’s possible for this mechanism and/or the blade guard to fail, so the brake only serves as a backstop to careful use. The electric blade brake (or electronic brake) has likely been the invisible guardian of many tradesmen. Be sure it stays in working order.

Another safety feature to look for a blade brake. You’ll know if yours doesn’t have one – the blade will continue spinning for what seems like forever before it finally stops. Having a blade brake gives you an extra layer of protection, although it still take s few seconds to completely stop.

I’m running full-width Wagoneer axles. One thing I did that I haven’t seen before is that I cut and replaced all of the crossmembers, widening the frame to match the front axle spring pad widths. 50 story tower at just 4 units a floor equals 200 apartments. That means plus or minus 450 cars for that building alone. That will create its own traffic jam every morning and evening as occupants go to and from work. The existing 30′ wide roads serving that block can’t absorb that added concentration of traffic onslaught. Result , added chaos exacerbating already existing traffic problem.

For years I have hunted for the real history of the press brake, and it is not that easy to find. The ubiquitous press brake is hard to miss in the world of metal fabricating. The panel bender, meanwhile, is not so prevalent. But maybe that is changing.
