The Gunther Werks 400R is a modern version of Porsche’s last air-cooled 911 and is the first car from the new Gunther Works outfit based out of southern California. Limited to only 25 units and with a price point of $525,000 this is a seriously expensive and rare restomod. Every 400R will be entirely one of a kind. Customers select the vehicle interior materials, accent colors, and finishes. Gunther Werks then create an interior that bridges the gap between modern and classic design. Customers start with a 1995-1998 Porsche 993-era 911 and Gunther Werks goes nuts from there. Nearly all of the steel bodywork is thrown out; only the doors remain, and the rest is all carbon fiber panels, made in house. Gunther Werks also has a custom 4.0-liter engine. Developed by Rothsport from Oregon it is a tasty high end machine producing 400+ horsepower at 7800 rpm redline. Prices start north of $500,000.

Disagree with #1 reason to buy one. As with all ‘midsize’ trucks, including mine, these are quite small inside and there is virtually no mpg or purchase cost advantage over a ‘rightsize’ half ton truck.

With one of the best feature sets in the group and price of $299 at The Home Depot, not only is the Echo 58V Chainsaw the best battery-powered chainsaw under $400, it’s also an outstanding value.

IMPORTANT REVIEW UPDATE (10/4/2016): After doing some additional testing with pressure-treated lumber and heavier stock, we [initially] found some issues with the Bosch REAXX saw that we couldn’t explain—except to say that it didn’t have the power we expected for cutting through denser wood. The blade exhibited a significant drop in speed during many common ripping cuts, and it even stalled out entirely at other times. We contacted Bosch and worked directly with them to determine the nature of the issue (which appeared to have to do with the saw’s electronic speed control). Here is the initial statement from Bosch on the matter:

Pros: Fast cutting; deepest cutting 6 1/2-inch saw—even deeper than one 7 1/4-inch saw; great general performance ratings

As for service I have so many choices here. The best dealer is a Chevy dealer that takes all GM models with no issue.

For self-driving fans, Cadillac’s Super Cruise highway driver-assistance system, which focuses on hands-free lane centering, braking and acceleration on freeways but does not do passing maneuvers or tackle on/off ramps, will be available. But not at launch.
