All table saws sold in the U.S. come with a riving knife, anti-kickback pawls, and a split blade guard. Because some cuts can’t be made with these safety features installed, they are removable. If you’re looking for a fun party game, see who of your uninitiated friends can install both correctly without a manual. While each one is different, their nature means you can use the saw without them installed. I’d be remiss if I didn’t tell you those cuts are more dangerous, so avoid it if you can.

While I brought my own extra power meter to do some comparisons against, the reality is that with just two power meters you wouldn’t really know who was right or wrong. But, you would be able to spot extreme oddities.  So, to start things off on the power meter front – there were no extreme oddities (data here):

Assuming the blade, miter gauge, and fence are all in the same plane, all of your cuts – including bevels – will be accurate. The bevel/height adjustment wheel works like any other table saw you’ve seen, so there’s nothing novel there. The bevel lock lever is a plastic-to-metal connection that can slide right off and may potentially wear down. It’s not terribly uncommon for this class and an area I’d like to see some improvement across the board.

Man that is a nice saw. Not sure I need to go cordless for my table saw but this thing looks the part. Love the liberal use of real metal for gears, dust port etc… seems like it’s built to last. How long will that 12.0Ah battery last? Can it run on a jobsite (intermittently) all day? Seems like that would be the minimum.

Some European countries regulate stated voltages more stringently, and it seems that it could only serve to help if the simple math all added up. Oregon didn’t compare too well in the performance tests. It does have Oregon’s PowerSharp onboard chain sharpening system, but also the least visible oil window. It also lacks a rubber grip. Oregon was the worst in practical usage. Many of our tests involved stalls which factored into the times.
