The cool body kits is crafted by Akira Nakai in his body shop located in Chiba Prefecture near Tokyo. This is not the power meter I’m looking for… I was surprised by the announcement today, and for a moment worried that I had made a mistake ordering an Easton PM, but then I read the press… the power meter is going to need to come down an additional $2-300 before being disposable is justifiable. I had assumed this was a DM power meter from the photos, and I guess the crankset is DM, but not how I thought the power meter would work. I know Quarq’s expertise is focused on spider-based PMs, so less surprising in hindsight.

Coolest detail: Pointy lugs. Lugs come in all sizes and shapes. And while filigreed lugs may be eye-catching, they’re more style than substance. Mark DiNucci’s lugs are more subtle, but they’re made with purpose. They’re thicker where tubes intersect and taper outward, becoming thinner-walled at their ends. The thinness of the lugs coupled with their signature points reduce stress risers where the tube and lug meet, explained DNucci, adding, “Some of my points are very long in order to create more strength in an area.”

The brakes feature an integrated 2.5mm cinch bolt for clamping the cable. This is a nice feature aesthetically, and while it likely saves a bit of weight, it did have a knack for chewing up the cable when really tightened down. This can be problematic when re-bolting the cable after initial cable stretch. I can imagine the fraying that would occur if a barrel adjuster were not installed and the clamp needed to be undone for wheel removal. Inflating the tire after installation would eliminate this problem, however it would not be ideal in a pit scenario during a race.

The age of the material will also affect your results. Aged or oxidized sheet is softer than a recently pickled hot-rolled steel. You also need to consider the temperature at which the sheet is being bent. A hot piece of steel will form differently than a sheet that is formed at room temperature.

The 120-employee plant does make scales, only scaled up for industrial, rail, and truck use. It appears that most of the 12 speed hardware is not backward compatible with any of the 11 speed etap…. but can you clarify if the AXS software will work with the 11 speed etap or etap wifli? may have missed it but cant seem to find an answer…. also… dont see the software on the IOS app store yet. Doesn’t look like it based on the chain ring and cassette choices…
