While I agree on pricing being high, one thing to keep in mind when comparing regional prices is the warranty periods and in some cases VAT/taxes inclusions. The EU mandates 2 years, whereas the US typically sees only one year of warranty on products and doesn’t include any taxes.

Saddle pack – Again we are talking small packs here that fit neatly under the saddle rather than large bags that stick out from behind the seatpost. These little packs are best for rigid posts rather than dropper posts as they would interfere with the action and scratch the stanchion. Brands like Dakine make a small tool roll which attaches to the saddle rails and fits into a similar space as a saddle pack but it doesn’t touch the seatpost meaning the post can move freely.

Also in the extreme oddity department on this ride, this is a legitimate department of transportation road-sign in the great state of Arizona, only a few hundred meters from the Hoover Dam near our turnaround point. #NotKidding

We could learn so much by just trying to adapt the Bermuda bus system. But we are a brilliant people, with a unique culture, so we will do it our own slow and backward way.

While I brought my own extra power meter to do some comparisons against, the reality is that with just two power meters you wouldn’t really know who was right or wrong. But, you would be able to spot extreme oddities.  So, to start things off on the power meter front – there were no extreme oddities (data here):

No, it won’t. Ford went out of their way to make sure the Ranger was as late and uncompetitive as possible. Every Ranger offered outside of the US has a manual transmission option, yet here in Ford’s home country, they offer nothing in a manual transmission. They’re offering only one engine and it’s the 2.3 ecoboost famous for blown headgaskets and poor engine performance when running on 87 octane fuel in the summertime. They won’t even offer a Duratec V6 as an upgrade. No diesel engine either despite having a 3.0L diesel they could use. The only way the Ranger sells big is if Ford pushes the truck hard in the fleet market. The sales won’t come from the saturated midsize retail market.

If I’m not mistaken it looks like the weight of Sram’s new 2x disc system is 2,520g where as Shimano’s DA disc system weighs around 2385g. I know there is an additional cog at on the cassette, but I’m surprised that Sram’s groupset now weighs more than Shimano’s. I wonder if that will influence any purchasing decisions despite Sram having an extra cog?

In Canada when I attended university the Member of Parliment used the same bus line as me to get to there office. I would like to see a Cayman MLA use the bus to get to work. Oh wait that would never happen, going to work shoulder to shoulder with the unwashed and sad excuse for a public transportation system.
