Last, what will parts availability be like in say 5 years when the stuff is worn out but they have something newer and “better”? Good luck getting stuff to keep it running.

Additional Notes: Enough gusto for a trim saw, but doesn’t have what it takes to be a full-on framing saw. Timid performance and some inaccurate features hold this saw back to the lower end. The brand new 6.3 Ah Bosch Core18V battery is too big to fit in the saw, but a modified version of the saw housing is being produced going forward. To promote full battery pack compatibility among their 18V line, Bosch will replace the housing for existing saw owners free of charge. Or you could save the hassle and shave the plastic ridge off the back of the saw with a utility knife like I did. The larger battery robs a bit of the already low blade depth though, even in the redesigned housing.

The SM465 and SM420 are both great transmissions. The SM465 offers a 6.55:1 ratio First gear and the SM420 offers an ultra-low 7.05:1 ratio First gear. However, both transmissions have their drawbacks. First and foremost is that they are essentially three-speed transmissions when you are driving on the street. You generally will never find much use for the low First gear on the pavement. The gaps between the three gears on both transmissions can make for quirky driving on the street. Something else to consider is that the SM420 is old and it is getting harder to find parts for. Also, with some adapters the front driveshaft clearance can be a problem on the SM420 when used with a Spicer 18. The SM465, while much newer and easier to find parts for, is massive and hangs down several inches below the framerails. You should check the actual dimensions before pulling the trigger on an SM465 swap in a small Jeep. If you are set on a four-speed manual truck transmission, you might want to consider a T-18 transmission. The T-18 is extremely adaptable, readily available, you can find them with a 6.32:1 First gear, and it’s pretty compact for its strength and durability. In some areas a good swappable version of the T-18 can be difficult and expensive to locate, but Herm the Overdrive Guy (hermtheoverdriveguy.com) offers several versions of the T-18 rebuilt with an adapter for a very reasonable price. The company has other low-geared rebuilt truck transmissions available too, if you decide to go a different route.

But we work through the fleets in North America. Haldex have a long successful story about working for sales through fleet group because the model in North America allow the fleets to specify the products by the OEMs. And then the customer relations are important to fleets, which we have a long, good history.

There are two basic build packages available for the OB1 presently based around wheel size and tire width. “The Shredder” is the 650b model and “The Roadie” is the 700c version.

Bosch has all of its storage on the outside of the saw. The side features a plastic door that houses up to two additional dual-activation cartridges. It seemed to hold up well to the bumps and drops associated with using the saw on a job site. Where the Sawstop lets you slide the fence straight in to secure it, the Reaxx fence (like the 4100) clamps upside down to the table. This takes a little getting used to, but it holds securely once you fasten it in place.
